A method to unlock a high-difficulty mode in Hollow Knight: Silksong (hereinafter Silksong) without finishing the game has been revealed.

The unlock method involves inputting a sequence known as the 'Konami Code'. By navigating to the 'More' menu on the main title screen and entering Up, Down, Up, Down, Left, Right, Left, Right in order, a sound effect will play to signal the unlock. Once a new game is started, the 'Steel Soul' mode will appear beneath the standard 'Classic' mode.

Unlike Classic, Steel Soul is a mode where you cannot respawn after death. If you die, the game ends and your save file is deleted. It is a hardcore mode common in other games, designed for players seeking extreme difficulty. While it is normally unlocked after clearing the game at least once, this command allows you to play it immediately.

Meanwhile, Silksong developer Team Cherry announced upcoming bug fixes and balance patches via the Steam community on the 9th. First, the difficulty of the 'Mossy Mother' boss in the Mossy Forest and the 'Wasteland Wing', often called a 'newbie killer', will be slightly reduced. Additionally, the Rosary cost for unlocking mid-game travel stations and benches will be lowered, and the Rosary rewards for collecting relics and hymn cylinders will be increased. Other bug fixes include issues where character outfits disappear during stone tablet escapes, certain wishes becoming impossible to complete, and projectiles getting stuck in mid-air to deal persistent damage.
