Frictional Games revealed their latest project, 'ONTOS', during The Game Awards 2025 (TGA 2025) on the 11th and launched its Steam page. Frictional Games is a developer known for psychological horror titles that blur the lines between reality and fantasy, such as Amnesia and SOMA.

The debut trailer avoids clear exposition, instead featuring an enigmatic narrator who attempts to guide the protagonist, creating a palpable sense of tension. It features striking visual contrasts, such as a server made of living rats and sci-fi space capsules, set against a lavish, aristocratic European backdrop.

The game is primarily set in 'Samsara', a repurposed hotel on the moon. The protagonist, 'Aditi Amani', heads to Samsara following the legacy of her father, who was once hailed as a genius but became estranged after becoming a prophet. However, her quest for answers leads to uncomfortable realizations about the nature of existence due to rifts in reality, and she must confront her place within Samsara.

In the trailer, a character who claims to be able to explain current events describes how a catastrophe was triggered because the protagonist's father believed he 'knew the answer.' The narrative unfolds as the protagonist is urged to uncover the truth hidden within this place. Players will encounter morally bankrupt experiments, unsettling encounters, and a story where science and faith intertwine within the labyrinthine halls of Samsara.

ONTOS is scheduled for release in 2026 and will support Korean subtitles.
