Following The Forest and Sons of the Forest, the surprise announcement of the sequel 'The Forest 3' has finally arrived.

Endnight Games pulled the curtain back on 'The Forest 3' at The Game Awards 2025 on the 11th. The Forest series has always been about that quintessential nightmare: you're stranded, you've got absolutely nothing, and you're forced to survive in a hostile, unfamiliar wilderness.

The surprise trailer kicks off from a first-person perspective inside a spacecraft cockpit, showing a peaceful flight descending into absolute carnage as the ship drifts light-years away from home. Interestingly, you're not entirely empty-handed this time; the protagonist sports a small robotic arm on their shoulder to assist with hunting and gathering. It seems the old trope of 'starting with absolutely nothing' has been traded in for a bit of high-tech gear.

The new planet is, to put it mildly, rather grim and menacing. It leans heavily into a desaturated, rain-drenched aesthetic, and since we're dealing with an alien world, the creature designs are a significant departure from the series' roots. That mysterious creature crawling out of the water just before the screen fades to black? I suspect that’s going to be the source of many sleepless nights.
