The esports organization DN FREECS is set to rebrand as 'DN SOOPers' starting from 2026. This name change puts their parent company, SOOP, at the forefront of their identity, marking a significant shift as they retire the 'FREECS' moniker that has defined the club's identity for nine years since its founding in 2016. The team's official abbreviation is also expected to transition from DNF to DNS.

The name 'FREECS' had been maintained since the team's inception in 2016, persisting even as naming sponsors changed from Kwangdong Pharmaceutical to the DN Group. While the term sparked debate abroad—with reactions ranging from confusion over the word's connotation to positive interpretations of it representing formidable players—the team stood by it firmly. Now, however, the transition to 'SOOPers' marks a renewal of their long-standing brand image.

DN SOOPers was founded on January 7, 2016, and established its foundation by acquiring various squads. It launched a PUBG team in 2018 and significantly expanded its scope by 2020, operating teams in 3x3 basketball and fishing. In late 2020, the organization refreshed its image by introducing a new logo symbolizing 'challenge and freedom' and securing sponsorship from an energy drink brand. After a three-year naming sponsorship with Kwangdong Pharmaceutical as Kwangdong FREECS, the organization signed a new three-year deal with the DN Group on December 26, 2024, operating as DN FREECS throughout 2025.

A representative for DN SOOPers stated on the 22nd, "From 2026, DN FREECS will stand before you anew as DN SOOPers. We hope you will join us in cheering for the bright future of SOOPers," signaling a fresh start for the organization.
