A new checkpoint simulation game has emerged, featuring the kind of moral dilemmas and difficult choices made famous by Frostpunk.

Russian developer TG Indie revealed their new checkpoint simulation game, 'Underchoice', on the 22nd. The game is set in a bunker that serves as humanity's last refuge, isolated from an outside world that has become a dead, uninhabitable wasteland. Players take on the role of a bunker manager, deciding whether to admit outsiders and resolving various incidents that occur within the bunker.

The core gameplay revolves around judging outsiders. Each outsider possesses randomized stats in three categories: 'Food', 'Medicine', and 'Tools'. These stats are required to resolve random events that occur within the bunker, and players must strategically assign personnel with the necessary stats to handle these situations. In short, identifying what the bunker lacks and admitting the right outsiders is key to smooth operations.

However, admitting outsiders can sometimes trigger unexpected events. As a result, players are constantly torn between the benefits of accepting newcomers and the risks involved, as well as the opportunities lost when turning them away.

Furthermore, each wanderer has their own unique background and story, keeping the player in a state of constant moral dilemma. The choices made determine the fate of both the residents and the wanderers, leading to various endings. The game is reminiscent of 'Frostpunk' in its focus on the desperation and agony of survival in extreme conditions.

Underchoice is scheduled for release on PC and will officially support Korean. While a specific release date has not yet been set, players can currently sign up for a playtest via the Steam page to experience the game ahead of its launch.
