Krafton has restored the Erangel map to its classic form through the PUBG 40.1 update. This update focuses on ending the seasonal 'Erangel: Subzero' content and reverting the battlefield to its original state, while also including UI improvements and new shop content.

With the seasonal 'Erangel: Subzero' content removed, the Erangel map has returned to its previous state. In the Secret Room, the loot table has been adjusted to include the All-in-One Repair Kit, Emergency Cover Flare, and Jammer Pack. Destructible gas cans have been added to the battlefield, and the Red Zone and ferries have returned. Additionally, indoor lighting in buildings has been improved.

UI improvements have been implemented to help players better assess combat situations. When holding or switching throwables, a list of your current inventory and quantity is now displayed in the bottom right corner of the screen. Team status UI now includes icons for key actions such as healing, reviving, carrying, and swimming, allowing for more intuitive information. The minimap now features visual elements that clearly show the Blue Zone's progression.

A new theme, '2026 Lunar New Year Festival,' has been added to the shop. Players can obtain new progressive weapon skins and chromas through Contraband Crates, Workshop Passes, Step-up Packs, and Loot Packs. A special event celebrating the Lunar New Year Festival has also begun. By completing missions while equipping specific skins, players can earn the 'Abandoned Armory' custom lobby skin.

Additionally, PUBG has adjusted the balance of some DMRs, kicked off Ranked Season 40, and distributed rewards for Season 39. The 'PUBG Bridge' service, which allows players to view 2D replays in a web environment, has also been launched.
