The design of Overwatch's latest hero, Anlan, is headed back to the drawing board after players pointed out that the character model bears a striking, perhaps too striking, resemblance to existing heroes like Juno.

Overwatch Director Aaron Keller took to the game's official social media channels on the 10th to announce that Anlan is undergoing a visual overhaul. This pivot comes in direct response to a wave of community criticism, as players felt the original model lacked a distinct identity. Expect the updated, redesigned Anlan to arrive later in Season 1.

Anlan was introduced as the older sister of another new hero, 'Wuyang,' in the comic 'Against the Tide,' which outlined her personality and look. However, once the in-game model surfaced, fans were quick to note that, aside from the hairstyle, she looked suspiciously like a carbon copy of Juno, D.Va, or Kiriko. Even Anlan's English voice actor chimed in on social media, expressing frustration over the lack of unique flair in the character's design.

Director Aaron Keller acknowledged the backlash, noting, "Many of you felt the current version of Anlan failed to capture the energy, maturity, and firm resolve seen in the comics and animated shorts. Our team agrees she could be better." He added, "We have officially started redesigning her facial model to better align with her unique personality and individual charm."

In other news, Overwatch teased a massive shake-up on the 5th, promising 10 new heroes, fresh story content, and a rebrand. This major update, titled 'Domination of Talon,' officially went live on the 11th.
