The long-awaited demo for Grand Theft Auto: Carcer City, a complete overhaul mod for Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas, is officially set to drop on April 10th.

This isn't just a simple tweak; it is arguably the most ambitious mod in GTA history, replacing the original map and atmosphere with an entirely fresh environment. Drawing clear inspiration from the urban landscapes of Detroit, Pittsburgh, and Cleveland, the project even integrates every single location featured in the 2003 cult classic, Manhunt.

Set in the bleak year of 2001, the narrative follows an ex-cop dragged into a treacherous criminal underworld within a dying city. It’s essentially a brand-new game disguised as a mod. As shops shutter, vital infrastructure collapses, and brutal gangs seize control of the streets, your survival is far from a given.

The project is being spearheaded by the modder DeadpoolMKD. They recently shared a 30-minute gameplay showcase to whet our appetites. While the demo was originally pencilled in for early March, the release date has been pushed to April 10th to ensure everything is in order.

Of course, we have to address the elephant in the room: the potential intervention from Take-Two and Rockstar Games. Rockstar is notorious for firing off 'Cease and Desist' orders, especially when money changes hands or paid mods are involved. DeadpoolMKD has confirmed that, as of now, they have not received any such legal notices.
