Pokémon Champions, a game firmly anchored in the thrill of Pokémon battles, is set to arrive on the Switch on April 8.

The Pokémon Company announced the release schedule for their latest project, 'Pokémon Champions', on the 24th. It hits the Nintendo Switch on April 8, with a mobile rollout scheduled for this summer, complete with cross-platform support.

At its heart, Pokémon Champions is all about the 'Pokémon battle'. It supports 'Rank Battle' where your standing shifts with every win or loss, 'Casual Battle' for those wanting a lower-stakes match, and 'Private Battle' to enjoy with friends and family. In Rank Battles, Mega Evolution is available, including the Mega Dragonite seen in Pokémon Legends: Z-A. You can also import your Pokémon from Pokémon HOME and send them back when you're done.

You can use VP (Victory Points) earned from battles to train your Pokémon and boost stats like Attack and Defence. You are also free to customise your trainer’s appearance and talk to various NPCs to learn more about the Pokémon world.

The 'Select' feature allows you to choose specific Pokémon to scout for your battles. It is divided into 'Trial Scout', where you can borrow Pokémon for a limited time without spending VP, and 'Regular Scout', where you can spend VP to acquire them.
