Nexon is doubling down on its flagship titles, specifically MapleStory and Dungeon & Fighter, by evolving them from mere games into full-blown intellectual properties. MapleStory is clearly the star pupil here. With the user-generated content platform MapleStory Worlds, the mobile-focused MapleStory M, and the spin-off Maple Story: Growing (Maple Kiugi) finding their footing, the franchise is maturing. They aren't just staying digital either; following the launch of physical MapleStory PC cafes last year, they’ve now brought the brand into the real world with dedicated rides at a theme park.

The spectacle continues on April 29, when a massive event for MapleStory's 23rd anniversary takes over Lotte World. It’s a clever move to bridge the gap between digital fandom and physical experiences. By putting the sheer scale of their player base on display and showing genuine care for long-term veterans, Nexon is putting a lot of effort into polishing the perceived value of the IP.

Of course, for this to stick, they need to solve the lingering issue of 'restoring player trust.' To fix this, Nexon has undergone a bit of a shake-up, with Nexon Korea CEO Kang Dae-hyun taking the reins as division head. Furthermore, during the 'Maple Now' broadcast on April 9, director Kim Chang-seop laid out a detailed audit of their monetization and probability systems, offering concrete fixes. Whether these operational promises can keep pace with their aggressive IP expansion remains the million-dollar question.

The biggest mover in the upper echelons this week is Eternal Return, jumping four spots to 15th. It’s a bittersweet victory, however. The game has found itself embroiled in a controversy regarding the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism's esports league, where several players serving as social service agents had their dual-employment permits revoked, effectively barring them from competition.
