Kiwoom DRX’s Yoon 'LowHigh' Sun-woong has secured a runner-up finish at the 2026 Esports World Cup (EWC) Tekken 8 event held in Paris, France.

Yoon Sun-woong faced a grueling battle against Pakistan’s M.ZUBAIR in the final, but ultimately fell short, marking the second consecutive year he has finished in second place. This runner-up result nets Yoon a prize of $130,000 (approximately 184 million KRW) and 750 club points.

While the EWC was previously hosted in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, the organizers moved the event to Paris this year to crack the European market and broaden the competition's global reach. It was an absolute behemoth of a tournament, featuring over 2,000 players from more than 100 countries and over 200 clubs. With 24 different titles on the roster, the total prize pool reached a staggering $75 million (approximately 110 billion KRW).

Yoon’s road to the final was anything but easy; he took down last year's champion, Lim 'Ulsan' Soo-hoon, in the quarter-finals before dispatching Australia’s Yagami in the semi-finals. Kiwoom DRX sent squads across three titles: Tekken 8, Street Fighter 6, and PUBG Mobile. Shin 'Leshar' Mun-seop managed a joint-fifth place in Street Fighter 6, securing 200 club points, while the PUBG Mobile squad remains in the hunt for a top-tier finish after qualifying for the main stage.

Following the final, Yoon shared, "It is truly meaningful to reach the EWC final stage for two years in a row, yet the regret of not reaching the summit is profound. I am grateful to my teammates who always provide great strength and to the fans who cheered me on. I will refine my shortcomings and ensure I return with a championship victory next time." Armed with these results, Kiwoom DRX continues to cement its global competitiveness across various esports titles, looking to expand its international fandom through deeper engagement with supporters at home and abroad.
