Pearl Abyss's Crimson Desert has rocketed back to the very top of Steam's global top selling games chart, fueled by its very first discount starting on August 25.

Pearl Abyss kicked off a 20 percent discount across all platforms on August 25. As a result, the base game, previously priced at 79,800 won, is now available for 63,840 won, while the Deluxe Edition sits at 74,240 won. It looks like this price cut, arriving roughly half a year after launch, has given sales a hefty boost and pushed Crimson Desert right back to the summit.

On top of that, during Gamescom 2026 Opening Night Live held on August 26, the developer revealed an Enhanced update designed to amp up immersion, drawing even more eyeballs. This fresh update packs in knowledge, items, fragments of memory, and extra dialogue to flesh out the main story and boss narratives. Furthermore, the skill acquisition system has been tweaked so that skills learned by one character using an Abyss Artifact carry over to others, alongside eight shiny new skills for Cliff.

The Crimson Desert Enhanced version drops as a free update. This sale will run until September 10. Meanwhile, Crimson Desert has scored nominations at the Gamescom 2026 Awards in both the Epic category—honouring standout storytelling, graphics, and gameplay—and the PC platform category.

Elsewhere, Aliens: Fireteam Elite 2, the sequel to Aliens: Fireteam Elite, launched on August 25 and landed straight in second place. That being said, early reactions are Mixed, with players grumbling that it feels more like a DLC than a full-blown sequel. Meanwhile, Dead by Daylight rolled out its community-voted new killer, Judgement, propelling both the base game and its DLCs straight back to the upper echelons of the charts.

Over in the peak concurrent players top 20, Palworld saw its numbers slip by roughly 10,000 to 173,839 compared to the previous day. This ongoing slide pushed Palworld down to seventh place behind FiveM. While concurrent player counts generally trended downwards across the board, Fishing Method defied the trend, climbing by about 30,000 to hit 370,901 players and smashing its own records day after day.
