Ubisoft's open-world FPS game 'Far Cry 6' kicked off its very first 90% discount starting on the 18th. Thanks to this promotional push, the game has been holding onto the upper echelons of the global Steam top sellers chart for four consecutive days.

Far Cry 6 is the latest entry in the series, originally released in 2021. Set in the fictional tropical Caribbean nation of 'Yara', players step into the boots of guerrilla fighter 'Dani Rojas' to fight back against the regime of dictator Anton Castillo. The core gameplay pillars include exploring a massive map, collecting and modifying various weapons, and engaging in combat utilizing vehicles introduced to the series for the first time, such as tanks, horses, and delivery trucks.

This 90% discount is being held to celebrate Ubisoft's 40th anniversary. Previously, the maximum discount rate offered for Far Cry 6 on major platforms like Steam hovered around 80%. While the discount rate was never particularly low to begin with, this new record-low price point appears to be the driving force behind the sudden surge in sales.

While the series' trademark action, solid optimization, and the character designs of the villains and previous series bosses featured in DLC have received praise, critics still point out issues with overall narrative coherence, low AI intelligence, and the inherited flaws of the classic Ubisoft-style open world. Thanks to the 90% discount, the Game of the Year Edition containing all DLC can now be enjoyed for 13,000 KRW. The discount runs until October 2.

Elsewhere on the charts, Control: Resonant, gearing up for its release on the 24th, landed in 6th place. Ace Combat 8: Wings of the Cee, releasing on October 2, also grabbed attention by releasing two live-action videos and details on difficulty adjustment methods ahead of launch, securing the 10th spot.

In the peak daily concurrent players top 20, Animo broke its own record by reaching 168,260 players, buoyed by weekend user influx. Wardogs logged 402,803 players, and Valheim pulled in 287,246 players, maintaining their upward momentum once again.
