A new hero, Xal'atath, has joined Heroes of the Storm on the 29th. First announced at BlizzCon 2026, Xal'atath is the 91st hero to be introduced in roughly six years, arriving alongside major update patch 57.

Once bound within the Blade of the Black Empire, Xal'atath is a Herald of the Void and a ranged assassin who wields void powers. The character gathers soul essences through basic attacks to fire void bolts, and links the Black Heart with Shadow Marks to deal explosive damage to enemy heroes. Xal'atath can teleport in a triangular pattern to boost attack power, and depending on the heroic ability, either triggers a wide-range void explosion or summons void minions to pressure enemies.

To celebrate the launch, a Twitch Drops event is also taking place. From 1:00 AM on September 29 to 3:59 PM on October 6, Korean time, watching Heroes of the Storm streams on Twitch will grant rewards based on watch time: 1,000 gold (1 hour), a Epic Loot Chest (2 hours), a Legendary Loot Chest (4 hours), and the Deadly Chaos Wolf legendary mount (8 hours).
