The Gwangju Information & Culture Industry Promotion Agency hosted the 'GES Youth eSports Tournament' at the Gwangju eSports Arena on October 25. The event featured a fierce competition with 105 students across 21 middle and high school teams in the Gwangju region, culminating in Munseong High School taking the ultimate victory.

The tournament broadened its participant scope to reflect the objective of expanding inter-regional exchange following the launch of the Jeonnam-Gwangju Integrated Special City. Through this, the organizers provided an opportunity for youths from a wider variety of regions and schools to participate and interact together.

The competition was held in a single discipline, League of Legends. Following battles that stretched from the morning, Munseong High School claimed 1st place, while Gwangdeok High School secured 2nd place. Myeongjin High School and Gwangju Daedong High School tied for 3rd place. The champion team, Munseong High School, was awarded the Jeonnam-Gwangju Integrated Special City Mayor's Award, Gwangdeok High School received the Jeonnam-Gwangju Integrated Special City Superintendent of Education's Award, and Myeongjin High School alongside Gwangju Daedong High School took home the Gwangju Information & Culture Industry Promotion Agency President's Award.

Beyond the main matches, various side events unfolded at the venue, allowing participants and supporting spectators alike to mingle and enjoy themselves. A participating student remarked, "It was meaningful to stand on a tournament stage as a team with friends playing a game we usually enjoy together. Although there was plenty of tension during the matches, aligning strategies with teammates, cheering each other on, and testing our skills against students from other schools will remain a fond memory."

Meanwhile, the Gwangju Information & Culture Industry Promotion Agency plans to host 'Let's eSports', an event open to family units, in November. Following that, in December, various eSports tournaments and cultural events are scheduled, including the Valorant invitational match 'GES ASIA'.
