A wave of indie games has recently postponed their release dates. The reason is the upcoming launch of Hollow Knight: Silksong (hereinafter referred to as Silksong).

Team Cherry announced on their official YouTube channel on the 21st that Silksong will launch on September 4. Following this, many indie games that had scheduled their releases for September decided to delay their launch dates. CloverPit, a roguelike strategy slot machine game, and the tactical RPG DemonSchool, both initially slated for September 3, found it burdensome to release their titles the day before Silksong, and consequently postponed their releases to September 26 and November 19, respectively.

Furthermore, Faeland, a Metroidvania adventure RPG with a similar genre to Silksong, was scheduled for September 9 but has been delayed indefinitely. Aeterna Lucis, another title in the same genre, also planned for a September release but announced that it would be pushed to next year to address development environment issues.

Necrosoft Games, the developer of DemonSchool, expressed the pressure caused by the sudden announcement of the Silksong release date on their official Bluesky account, stating, "When a game that could be called the 'GTA of the indie world' announces its release date just two weeks prior, it is bound to catch everyone off guard."

While there have been many cases where games scheduled for a similar period were delayed following the announcement of a major title, this is the first time the indie game industry has reacted so significantly to a single release like Silksong.

Meanwhile, Silksong will be released on September 4 for PC, Nintendo Switch, Switch 2, Xbox Series X/S, PS4, and PS5, and will officially support the Korean language.
