For the Danganronpa faithful, who have long been starved of a mainline entry while the developers busied themselves elsewhere, some welcome news has finally arrived.

Spike Chunsoft pulled the curtain back on the 12th during the Nintendo Direct, officially unveiling the new title, 'Super Danganronpa 2X2.' This project is a full-blown remake built upon the foundations of the deduction adventure classic, 'Super Danganronpa 2: Goodbye Despair Academy.'

Super Danganronpa 2X2 transports players to Jabberwock Island, a once-popular tourist destination now left to rot. The story follows students from Hope's Peak Academy who arrive for a field trip, only for their sunny getaway to take a dark, chaotic turn upon the arrival of the mysterious character Monokuma. The mission is simple: uncover the island's secrets and find a way to escape.

True to the nature of a remake, the game reintroduces familiar faces and settings, yet it promises to veer off the path of the original with fresh scenarios and events. The victims, the culprits, and the devious tricks involved have all been overhauled. For the purists, the original narrative remains available, and the entire experience has been polished with modern visual flair and upgraded production values.

Players will engage in the series' quintessential loops: the 'Daily Life' phase to gossip with students and uncover motives, the 'Investigation' phase following the discovery of a body, and the intense 'Class Trial' where talents are put to the test to identify the true killer.

Super Danganronpa 2X2 is slated for a 2026 release on Nintendo Switch, Nintendo Switch 2, PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC via Steam. Unfortunately, there is no official support for the Korean language.
