Gen.G has lifted the trophy after a gritty 3-1 victory over Hanwha Life Esports (HLE) in the 2025 LCK Finals.

The 2025 LCK Finals, held on the 28th at the Inspire Arena in Incheon, saw a rematch between Gen.G and HLE. With Gen.G looking for redemption after last year's bitter loss and HLE aiming to defend their throne, the air was thick with anticipation.

Gen.G had a shaky start in game one. 'Peanut' Han Wang-ho’s Poppy orchestrated successful ganks in the bot and mid lanes, putting Gen.G down 2-0. However, Gen.G kept their cool, quietly farming objectives until a pivotal skirmish near the dragon pit at the 12-minute mark, where they traded 2-1 and signaled their intent to bite back.

By the 20-minute mark, another dragon fight proved decisive. While 'Kiin' Kim Gi-in’s Sion soaked up the pressure, 'Chovy' Jeong Ji-hoon’s Ryze secured a triple kill, swinging the momentum. From there, Gen.G leveraged 'Chovy' and 'Ruler' Park Jae-hyuk’s Ezreal to widen the gold gap, systematically dismantled HLE in subsequent objective fights, and pushed into the enemy base at 30 minutes to shatter the Nexus.

Game two was a proper scrap. While 'Canyon' Kim Geon-bu helped Gen.G secure an early kill lead, HLE refused to fold, grinding out farm to keep the gold difference negligible. The mid-game was a back-and-forth affair around the objective pits, with both teams trading blows in a tense deadlock.

The equilibrium shattered in an instant. At 39 minutes, HLE looked set to take the lead after securing the dragon and taking down 'Canyon', but 'Ruler' Park Jae-hyuk stepped up with explosive damage, wiping out all five members of HLE. With only 'Canyon' sidelined, the rest of Gen.G marched straight into HLE’s base to seal the victory.

HLE, however, wasn't about to roll over. In game three, they unleashed an aggressive dive composition featuring Ambessa, Jarvan IV, Sylas, Smolder, and Braum. Gen.G countered with a sturdy frontline of K'Sante, Galio, Alistar, Lee Sin, and Ziggs.

Gen.G looked comfortable early on, picking off 'Delight' Yoo Hwan-joong, but HLE clawed back in the Void Grub fight, gradually pulling ahead in gold. 'Peanut' and 'Delight' then perfectly chained their crowd control to delete the enemy Ziggs, followed by a massive team fight in the top lane that saw HLE net three kills. Having cruised to a Baron buff, HLE simply steamrolled Gen.G to take the third game.

HLE’s momentum carried into game four. During a 15-minute scuffle at the dragon, 'Delight's' Pyke turned the tide by executing members of Gen.G one by one. His influence continued as he caught out a low-health 'Ruler' in the mid lane, widening the gold lead further.

Gen.G then pulled a masterstroke. At 30 minutes, 'Canyon' boldly dived into the Baron pit with his ultimate, picking off 'Zeus' Choi Woo-je’s Ornn and 'Peanut'’s Skarner. This sparked a comeback, culminating in a final team fight at 41 minutes where Gen.G wiped out four members of HLE without losing a single soul. They marched down the lane to destroy the Nexus and claim the 2025 LCK crown.

The Finals MVP went to 'Ruler' Park Jae-hyuk. With this win, Gen.G completes a historic triple crown, having already conquered the Mid-Season Invitational (MSI) and the Esports World Cup earlier this year. They will now head to Chengdu, China, on October 14 as the 1st seed for the 2025 World Championship, with runners-up HLE joining as the 2nd seed.
