Discord, a messenger platform relied upon by gamers worldwide, has suffered a security breach.

The breach did not target Discord's own servers, but rather a third-party customer support system. The incident occurred on September 20, and it has been confirmed that the hackers made financial demands to Discord.

As a result, the personal information of some users who had contacted Discord's customer support or Trust & Safety teams was leaked. This includes real names, Discord usernames, email addresses, IP addresses, and support ticket transcripts. In some cases, images of government-issued IDs, such as driver’s licenses or passports submitted for identity verification, were also leaked. Additionally, limited payment information—such as the type of payment method, the last four digits of a card, and purchase history—was exposed.

Discord emphasized that the hackers did not gain access to passwords, full credit card numbers, or general message content. The company stated that immediately after the incident, it revoked the third-party provider's system access and took all necessary measures, including notifying data protection authorities and law enforcement.

Meanwhile, Discord is notifying affected users via official emails and has advised them to remain vigilant against any suspicious messages or communications. The company stated that it will continue its investigation with user data protection as its top priority.
