Minecraft once harboured a legendary boundary known as the 'Far Lands'. Recently, a gamer made waves by reaching this point using nothing but standard movement—no bugs, no cheats. It took him a staggering 14 years and 6 months.

The man behind this feat is Minecraft YouTuber 'Kurt J. Mac'. He kicked off his quest on 28 March 2011, setting himself the goal of reaching the 'Far Lands' using only legitimate travel methods like walking or rowing a boat.

Then, after 14 years and 6 months, he finally touched the 'Far Lands' on 4 October. As Kurt J. Mac was rowing his wooden boat across the sea as usual, a massive wall appeared on the horizon, seemingly reflecting the world upside down. That was it. Having completed a journey spanning over a decade, he celebrated briefly before scaling the terrain to explore the Far Lands, marking the end of his long-term project. His trek was even officially recognised by the Guinness World Records in 2015 as the 'Longest Journey in Minecraft'.

The 'Far Lands' were a byproduct of a terrain generation bug present before the Minecraft Beta 1.8 update. Occurring 12.5 million blocks from the world's centre, the terrain would distort and glitch out. The name 'Far Lands' was coined by original creator Markus 'Notch' Persson in a 2011 blog post, where he noted that reaching them through normal play was essentially impossible.

While this glitch is no longer present in modern versions, it remains a symbol of romantic mystery for Minecraft players. Although initial projections suggested it would take 22 years to reach the 'Far Lands' on foot, Kurt J. Mac managed to turn that dream into reality in just 14 years and 6 months.
