On the 16th, 'The King of Fighters AFK' (hereafter KOF AFK) introduced a new Legend-grade fighter, 'Athena Asamiya'. To celebrate, the developers have launched a dedicated pickup event, a recruitment campaign, and a Patience Synergy pickup summon.

Athena arrives as a Star-attribute fighter with the Patience synergy, prioritising attacks on the most distant foes. Her active skill, 'Shining Crystal Bit', deals damage to the target and two adjacent enemies. Upon activation, she buffs herself and allies in the same row with a 40% attack power increase for two turns.

Her finish skill, 'Super Phoenix Infinity', hits all targets and grants a critical damage boost to both herself and allies in her row. Expect her to fill a solid support role, effectively raising the damage ceiling for her row-mates.

Alongside her arrival, a variety of events are now live. The Athena pickup summon increases the drop rate for the fighter, and cumulative summons will reward you with fighter cards, ensuring you can secure Athena without relying solely on luck.

A 'Patience Synergy' pickup summon is also available to bolster your team composition. This banner increases the odds for Legend-grade fighters with the Patience synergy. Cumulative pulls reward you with a selection ticket, allowing you to choose between King, Tung Fu Rue, or Kasumi.

Don't overlook the launch commemorative event, which provides tokens for both banners. By tapping the 'Athena Participation' icon in the top right corner of the main screen, you can complete missions such as defeating raiders, completing Lucky Rides, and clearing dungeons. Collecting 'Blue Fragments' allows you to progress through the pass and earn synergy and pickup fighter tokens.

Beyond that, the schedule for events like 'Lucky Elphy' and 'Photo Card Growth' has been released. Additional updates include expanded rewards for the 'South Town' arcade challenge dungeon and quality-of-life improvements to the event ranking help descriptions.
