His influence on the modern military FPS genre, including Call of Duty, Battlefield, and Titanfall, was immense, and the sudden news of his passing has led to a wave of mourning across the industry.

According to multiple reports, the accident occurred on the 21st (local time) in Los Angeles, California. Zampella, the head of Respawn Entertainment and co-founder of Infinity Ward, had recently garnered attention again after taking the helm of the Battlefield IP, which had seen its standing decline following the 2021 release of 'Battlefield 2042'.
