The long-awaited Sun Wukong has finally made his debut in Seven Knights Re:BIRTH (hereinafter SKRB). As part of the Four Lords, alongside the likes of Ace and Rin, this is the classic Monkey King we all know from 'Journey to the West'. While the developers teased him as a 'defensive team dealer' during official events, he’s proving more than capable of anchoring a defensive setup.

Q. What kind of hero is Sun Wukong?
A. He is a hero whose skill effects shift depending on his clone state.

Sun Wukong is a Universal type, Magic attack hero. His standout feature is the 'Clone' mechanic, which enhances his abilities. Among the current roster in SKRB, he and Jupy are the only two Legendary heroes whose skill effects evolve upon use.

The bread and butter here is 'Yeo-ui-nan-cham-mu'. On the first cast, it deals 3-hit damage to 3 enemies with a 40% chance to Petrify. It also grants all allies a 3-turn 'Reduction' buff, while Sun Wukong gains a 5-turn Clone and a 3-turn immunity to crowd control. Don't be fooled by the name; the Clone isn't an extra unit on the field, but rather a persistent buff. It’s turn-based, but importantly, it cannot be stripped by dispel effects.

Once the Clone effect is active, 'Yeo-ui-nan-cham-mu' and 'Dae-bong-seung-ta-gyeok' evolve with a 'Hwan' prefix, drastically changing their properties. Yeo-ui-nan-cham-mu shifts from hitting 3 targets to an AoE attack, applying a 3-turn Block Rate reduction, damage scaling based on missing targets, and a 3-hit defense-ignoring strike with a 50% critical rate bonus. Skill enhancements bump the coefficient and push the Block Rate reduction from 25% to 33%.

Dae-bong-seung-ta-gyeok, while still targeting 3 enemies, behaves quite differently. Like Yeo-ui-nan-cham-mu, damage increases for every target missing, and it inflicts 3-hit defense-ignoring damage based on the target's Max HP. It’s a night-and-day difference from the basic version. Once you hit 6-transcendence, both skills gain a guaranteed 100% critical hit rate.

His passive, 'Mihu-bun-sin-sul', comes with 'Authority', and when triggered, it grants a shield, boosts defense proportional to attack power, reduces skill cooldowns by 10s when hit, and heals the entire team based on magic attack power when he uses a skill. At 2-transcendence, if his HP drops below 50%, he instantly heals the whole party (once per battle). The defense buff grants 125 defense per 300 attack power, capping at 1,125. To get the most out of this, you'll need to push his attack power to at least 2,700.

Q. What are Sun Wukong's key buffs and debuffs?
A. Petrify, Block Rate reduction, Clone, and Reduction.

Sun Wukong brings Petrify and Block Rate reduction to the table, along with his Clone and Reduction buffs. Petrify has a 30% proc rate on basic attacks and 40% on standard Yeo-ui-nan-cham-mu casts. It functions just like Kagura’s current meta kit, cancelling the opponent's skill queue upon impact. The Block Rate reduction is specifically designed to punish current defensive team heroes, scaling up to 33% with enhancements.

The Clone is his signature skill, manifesting as a visual flair around him. As noted, it can't be dispelled, though it is subject to turn-based duration decay. Reduction boosts his and his team’s survivability by cutting incoming damage; make sure to enhance this, as it scales from 11% to 15%.

Q. How should I build Sun Wukong?
A. Aim for 50% Critical Rate before 6-transcendence, then pivot to Critical Damage.

For his build, stick to the Arbitrator, Shaman, and Gatekeeper sets to hit the 2,700 attack and 50% critical rate threshold. Once you reach 6-transcendence, you can swap critical rate for critical damage, as his core skills gain a 100% crit chance bonus. Prioritize attack power via substats, and for armor, aim for Block Rate and damage reduction.
