It seems the magic-type arena meta has well and truly solidified following the recent arrival of a new hero. In fact, the top nine spots in the overall pick rate chart are now monopolised by magic and universal-type heroes. Freya and Sun Wukong are leading the charge, supported by a cast of reliable sidekicks. Let’s dive into the current landscape by breaking down the arena team formation statistics.

The unexpected arrival of 'Ace' in the magic-type meta

The magic deck is currently feasting in the arena like a fish in water. It’s all thanks to the rock-solid foundation of the old-school hero Milia, combined with Sun Wukong’s sheer sustain, Freya’s burst damage, and Melcure’s mana reflux creating a truly nasty synergy. The standard operating procedure is for Freya to drain the opponent's health with her opening skill, followed by a splash of mana reflux, allowing Sun Wukong and Milia to mop up the stragglers.

What makes this magic meta truly flexible is how easily you can swap your fifth slot based on the opposition. While the core four remain static, the final spot is a revolving door for Elysia, Kyrielle, Yeonhee, and Vanessa. Even Ace, who received a buff recently, has made a surprise return to the rotation, clocking in a solid 15% pick rate.

Much like the meta-defining decks of the past, Ace is a strategic pick specifically for mirror matches. Since most players run Milia and Sun Wukong, you often find them squaring off against each other. Ace’s passive, which reduces incoming healing, combined with the pet 'Yu' (which shares the same debuff), effectively shuts down the opponent's recovery. This utility has made him a firm favourite among top-tier rankers who spend most of their time in mirror-match hell.

The double-dealer meta is king! 'Balanced Formation' takes the top spot at 74.3%

With Freya and Sun Wukong serving as the main damage dealers, it’s no surprise that the 'Balanced Formation' has seen its pick rate skyrocket. It surged by 45.3 percentage points in a single week, cementing its status as the undisputed number one.

Even the 'Basic Formation,' which has spent an eternity at the bottom of the charts, is seeing a slight resurgence in this magic-heavy meta. While it’s still lagging in ranking, it climbed by 2.8 percentage points, now breathing down the neck of the 'Protective Formation' in third place. This is largely due to rankers opting for Kyrielle as a custom pick to shut down enemy healing, much like the tactic used with Ace.

Pet pick rates are also mirroring the magic meta shift. Yeonji retains the top spot for boosting magic damage, while Yu has surged by 10.3 percentage points to claim second place, easily overtaking the fading Lu.

Ace joins the magic deck to counter mirror matches

Our best pick of the week sees two changes from last time: Ace has replaced Elysia, and Yu is now the primary pet. It’s the go-to setup for savvy players looking to survive the mirror-match grind.

These surgical adjustments to counter mirror matches are likely to keep evolving. Right now, players are either desperately looking for a way to neutralize Ace or simply hoping they don't run into him—or, more realistically, fighting fire with fire by running 'Ace vs. Ace.' Once a proper counter-meta emerges, we’ll see another shift, no doubt.

Total War Pick of the Week

The undisputed champion of the final round: 'Tosiltosil'

Much like the arena, the Total War mode is trending toward a standardized meta. Most top-tier rankers are running compositions identical to our spotlight player, 'Tosiltosil.' Their lineup? Trude/Kyle attack deck, Death-based defense deck, Freya magic deck, Sun Wukong defense deck, and a Milia magic deck.

Hero distribution is always the biggest headache when building five squads for Total War. In the early days, the strategy was to field four elite teams and sacrifice the fifth. Now, the trend has shifted toward spreading the power evenly to ensure every team has a puncher's chance, even if it means weakening the top-end slightly.

Looking at Tosiltosil's setup, it’s clear that dilemma is largely a thing of the past. All five teams are essentially arena-grade, leaving no weak links. With Trude anchoring the attack deck and Sun Wukong taking over as the lead damage dealer in the defense deck—replacing Karma—the synergy is undeniably sharp.

Seven Knights Re:BIRTH User Poll

With Sun Wukong’s summoning event nearing its end, we asked the community for their advice on how far to transcend him. We allowed two options to see exactly where players are drawing the line.

The verdict? 6-transcendence is the clear winner, with 71.9% of the vote. Many also selected 2-transcendence as a middle ground, though the prevailing sentiment seems to be that once you cross the 4-transcendence mark, you might as well go all the way. Use these results to decide your path before the banner closes.
