The curtains fall on Season 9 of the Tower of Chaos in Raven 2 come the early hours of February 4th. It is time for the rankings to step into the spotlight, and they have arrived in style. This time, we counted 3,997 participants, a modest increase from the 3,919 seen in the mid-season. The hero of the Season 9 finale? The Gunslinger. They dominated both the overall records and class distribution charts, simultaneously breathing down the necks of the Berserker and Deathbringer classes.

Let us start with the overall records. The high watermark remains unchanged from mid-season: ROYALmung-appa’s 45th floor clear at 6 seconds. Assassin player No-sho-haneun-sseulari narrowed the gap to 8 seconds, but couldn't quite snatch the crown. They remain the undisputed king of this season’s Tower of Chaos. In third place, VC-wonjang held their ground, shaving a further second off their clear time.

One frustration here is that it's rather tricky to track the exact progression of the top 20 rankers. With the server transfers in late January, many players and guilds changed their names or allegiances. We can only infer the connections—such as ROYALmung-appa, VC-wonjang, and ShinwhaFRED keeping their names, or the similarly-monikered No-sho-haneun-sseulari—but the links are tenuous. ShinwhaFRED slipped from 10th to 15th place compared to the mid-season mark, yet their clear time of 45th floor at 18 seconds remains identical. It seems other challengers simply worked harder to bridge the gap.

The top 20 chart is undeniably dominated by the long-range Gunslinger and Night Ranger classes. Beyond holding the number one spot, the Gunslingers placed eight players on the board. While the Night Rangers have a lower peak record, they also claimed eight spots. The remaining crumbs were divided between two Assassins, one Vanguard, and one Destroyer. Since the introduction of the 45th floor environment in Raven 2, the former powerhouse, the Assassin, seems to have lost some of its edge.

How are the top players in each class faring? In a word: a steady upward curve. Every class, with the exception of the Divine Caster, either set a new personal best or managed to shave seconds off their clear time within the top 5. They truly pushed to the limit. For the record, the Elementalist class only had four players on the 45th floor in our last count, but with the addition of Shark-ttaerimyeon-keu-ang-hae-yeong, the top 5 is now full, clocking in at 1 minute 33 seconds.

The Destroyer, Night Ranger, and Assassin classes saw particularly high numbers of record-breakers. The Destroyer’s peak dropped from 21 seconds to 19 seconds. No-sho-geopna-deumjik shaved off two seconds to climb a spot in the rankings. All five top-ranked Night Rangers improved their times, with an average clear of 14.6 seconds. As for the top Assassin, the aforementioned No-sho-haneun-sseulari leads the pack—widely believed to be the former top-ranked player and Raven 2 legend, No-bba-kkeu-sseural. Light-dimu managed to cut their time from 21 to 19 seconds, but the gap remains too wide to reclaim the throne.

Finally, let’s look at the class ratios for the Tower of Chaos. As Season 9 reached its climax, the Gunslinger launched a counter-offensive, gaining 0.5 percentage points in share to threaten the 3rd place Berserker and 4th place Deathbringer. The Deathbringer, having suffered a 0.1 percentage point dip, fell to 4th place—a rather disappointing outcome for a class that could have otherwise shared that rank.

The Berserker, the third most popular class in the tower, finds itself in a similar predicament to the Deathbringer. Both have seen their influence wane due to the Gunslinger’s sudden surge. Consequently, the gap between them and the Gunslingers has narrowed to just 0.3 percentage points. It’s clear that the meta is shifting, and we shall have to watch closely to see if this trend carries over into Raven 2’s Tower of Chaos Season 10.
