Helldivers 2 has staged a triumphant return to the upper echelons of Steam’s global best-sellers, buoyed by a massive update. With new vehicles and weaponry winning over the community, both sales figures and Concurrent Players have surged—climbing all the way to the number one spot on the 4th, immediately following the patch drop.

The 6.0.1 patch, which landed on the 3rd, is all about cranking up the firepower and introducing fresh hardware. Most notably, the 'TD-220 Bastion'—a fan-favourite tank from the original title—is back. This four-man heavy beast packs a 120mm high-velocity cannon and a coaxial machine gun, effectively turning your squad into a mobile fortress. It’s a delightful bit of kit, provided your driver and gunner can actually manage to play nice with each other.

Alongside this, the new 'Siegebreaker' premium warbond focuses on physically smashing through enemy lines. The 'Trident' laser shotgun, a classic from the first game, makes a return with an upgraded six-beam spread, and we’ve even got our first anti-tank melee weapon: the 'CQC-20 Wall-Breaker Hammer'. The update is rounded out with a belt-fed grenade launcher and the 'EAT-411 Leveler', a tactical nuke-grade launcher that really leans into the game’s chaotic variety.

The response is plain to see in the Concurrent Players count. By the 4th, the game cleared the 100,000 mark, and it’s still hovering in the 80,000s as of the 5th. Players seem chuffed with the new tank mechanics and the sheer satisfying crunch of the Wall-Breaker Hammer. That said, it’s not all sunshine and managed democracy; some are reporting a cheeky increase in crashes and stability issues post-patch.

Elsewhere in the charts, Dragon Quest 7 Reimagined is enjoying 'Very Positive' reviews from early Deluxe Edition adopters. Nioh 3 has climbed back to the top spot just a day before its full launch, while Fallout 76 has crept back into 8th place, likely helped by a mix of deep discounts and the decision to stream the first season of the TV show for free on YouTube.

In the Concurrent Players charts, PUBG has seen a bump of about 50,000 users following its Lunar New Year event, hitting 648,856. Meanwhile, ARC Raiders has been on a bit of a slide since the weekend, dropping below 250,000. While a weekday dip is standard fare, this particular drop looks a bit steeper than what we’ve seen in previous weeks.
