Tarsier Studios' new title, 'REANIMAL', has climbed to 6th place on Steam's global top sellers list ahead of its release at 11 PM on the 13th. Following the lackluster reception of the third entry in the Little Nightmares series, it seems players are pinning their hopes on the original creators of the first two games.

REANIMAL is being touted as the spiritual successor from the original developers of Little Nightmares 1 and 2. Set on an island that has transformed from a picturesque home into a nightmarish hellscape, players control a pair of orphaned siblings on a mission to rescue three missing friends and uncover the island's dark secrets.

The gameplay loop feels familiar, focusing heavily on exploration and survival much like its predecessors. You will traverse land and sea, piloting small boats through foggy waters, marshes, and derelict factories. You'll need to solve physics-based puzzles using the environment while desperately avoiding or hiding from grotesque monsters. A key feature is the co-op focus; if you're playing solo, the AI handles the other character, and the shared camera system is designed to amplify the tension and force tight coordination between players.

The Little Nightmares series saw a shift to Supermassive Games starting with the third title, which ended up with a 'Mixed' reception due to optimization issues and bugs. In contrast, REANIMAL released a demo three days ago and has already garnered an 'Overwhelmingly Positive' rating with 4,418 reviews at 95% positive sentiment.

Elsewhere on the charts, Diablo II: Resurrected Hellfire Edition has surged to 2nd place. Additionally, following the State of Play announcement, Death Stranding 2: On The Beach has officially opened pre-orders on PC, landing it in 7th place.

In the daily peak Concurrent Players top 20, Overwatch landed in 14th place with 112,459 players. It’s seeing a somewhat rapid decline, losing 50,000 players just three days into the new season. Meanwhile, Muse Dash saw a slight increase to 87,859 players, keeping its momentum alive.
