Raven 2 has recently rolled out its new 'Familiar Expedition' content. It is a system where you dispatch Familiars of Rare grade or higher, wait for a set duration, and reap the rewards upon their return. Any player level 60 or above with a decent roster of Familiars can join in. This adds a fresh route for gathering various items, so it is high time you learned how to make the most of it. Q. Why should I even bother with the Familiar Expedition?
A. You get a wide array of loot, including Summoning Scrolls, various currencies, and Codex boxes.

The beauty of the Familiar Expedition is that your character's combat power is irrelevant, and the list of farmable loot is quite extensive. You can snag Summoning Scrolls, Glories/Devotion/Monster Codex coins, Enhancement Stones, and Boss Codex Selection Boxes. Depending on the region, you might even find High-grade Enhancement Stones and Proofs of Subjugation. Some Rare and Hero-grade Familiars are exclusive to these expeditions. Since the drop tables include both new and old items, it effectively opens up new acquisition paths. That alone makes it worth your time. If you have the capacity and the daily attempts, dive in.

Keep a keen eye on the Boss Monster Codex materials, currencies, and expedition-exclusive Familiars. Gathering analysis materials for bosses is notoriously difficult in Raven 2, unlike regular mobs that you can farm at your leisure. Players who were desperate for a reliable supply used to have to grind NPC affinity, so this expanded acquisition path is a welcome change.

The same logic applies to the currencies. Devotion and Glory coins are vital for purchasing key items in the in-game shop, such as Hero-grade gear, Summoning Scrolls, and Skillbooks. If you are a beginner or a casual player struggling to grind these coins, let the Familiar Expedition bridge the gap.

To get started, you will need Familiars of Rare grade or higher. To hit those 'Perfect Clear' rewards, the higher the grade, the better. Conveniently, the Devotion coin shop offers a monthly Hero-grade Familiar summon. Think of this as the foundation for powering up your expedition teams. It may be pricey, but it is highly recommended.

Q. So I need Rare or higher Familiars, I suppose I should dump resources into summons?
A. Hold your horses! Character growth should always take priority.

It is tempting to go all-in on Familiars to secure those 'Perfect Clears'. Raven 2 has also launched a 'Special 28-Day Support' attendance event, granting you 'Blessing Divine Stone Summon - Blessing Selection Box - Blessing Familiar Summon - Hero Selection Box' every seven days. You get to choose between Divine Stones and Familiar scrolls on the 14th and 28th days. While it is tempting to pick the Familiar scroll for your expeditions, think twice.

Prioritising expeditions over character growth is a rookie mistake. In Raven 2, your character's progression is paramount. If you are lacking a Hero-grade Divine Stone or are on the cusp of snagging a Legendary one through contract summons, focus on that first.

If you are set on collecting Hero-grade Familiars, aim for at least three. The lowest-tier expedition region, Ihendar, has a 'Perfect Clear' HP requirement of 900, which is achievable with three Hero-grade Familiars. You have two attempts per day, and each expedition takes 3 hours. Aim to hit those two 'Perfect Clears' daily.

Q. Blast, my Familiars still don't have enough HP!
A. Use Familiar level-ups, awakenings, and buffs.

As I mentioned, the more Rare or Hero Familiars you have, the better, but that is easier said than done. While Raven 2 occasionally hands them out during major holidays, waiting around is not a strategy. When you are stuck with your current roster, you have to rely on buffs and level-ups to meet those HP requirements.

Buffs can be activated via the button at the bottom right of the expedition setup screen. The HP Potion increases total Familiar HP, the Shield negates a set amount of damage, and Resurrection revives the first casualty. Use the HP Potion to fill that gap in your 'Perfect Clear' requirements. The other two buffs still require some community testing to see if they are actually worth it.

Don't ignore level-ups and awakenings—they are the most reliable ways to boost your Familiar's HP. Furthermore, the later regions, Shaftberg and Ashur, require one and two Awakened Familiars, respectively. If you have a surplus of Contractor's Shards, keep this in mind.
