Netmarble announced on the 6th that it plans to acquire 150 billion KRW worth of shares in its affiliate, Coway, through open market purchases over the next year.

The shares will be purchased in installments within the next year (by April 6, 2027), with an initial purchase of 40 billion KRW scheduled from May 7 to June 5 of this year.

Netmarble currently holds a 26% stake in Coway, and once the 150 billion KRW purchase is complete, its stake will reach the high 20% range.

Regarding this acquisition, Netmarble explained that it would help stabilize governance and improve financial health. The increase in stake is expected to boost equity method gains and dividend income proportional to the holdings.

Over the past three years, Netmarble has secured 109.8 billion KRW in dividends and 300 billion KRW in equity method gains from Coway. As the stake increases, both dividends and equity method gains are expected to grow further.

Netmarble stated, "This stock purchase is a strategic investment aimed at achieving both governance stability and financial health," adding, "This utilizes a portion of the funds from our ongoing liquidation of investment assets, and it will have absolutely no impact on our core gaming business."
