A commemorative stamp featuring 'League of Legends' esports legend 'Faker', Lee Sang-hyeok, is set to be released.

The Ministry of Science and ICT’s Korea Post announced on the 6th that a special stamp starring 'Faker', Lee Sang-hyeok, will be issued this October. It is a significant milestone: this marks the first time an active esports athlete has served as the sole face of an official South Korean commemorative stamp, reflecting the elevated global standing of Korean esports.

These commemorative stamps are special issues released by Korea Post for a limited time to celebrate national milestones, historical events, or cultural icons. Historically, they have been reserved for figures of great national significance or massive state-level projects. Getting one while still active is a rare honor. Previous cultural and sports figures include Yuna Kim, the 2002 World Cup squad, and BTS—though even in BTS's case, they opted for album art rather than the members' faces.

Since his debut in 2013, 'Faker', Lee Sang-hyeok, has remained at the pinnacle of his game for over a decade. He has secured a total of six World Championship titles with T1, represented South Korea in the Asian Games in 2018 and 2023, and is widely regarded as an iconic esports athlete. Just this January, he became the first esports player to receive the Blue Dragon Medal, the highest honor in the Order of Sport Merit.

Before the stamps officially go into circulation, Korea Post is opening a window for public feedback in accordance with standard regulations. If you have any grievances or thoughts on the release, you have 20 days—from April 6th to the 25th—to submit your comments via email to the Postal Business Division. Once the feedback period closes, they will review the submissions before finalizing the issuance process.
