On April 10, Netmarble announced the launch showcase schedule for their upcoming open-world action RPG, Game of Thrones: Kingsroad. The showcase will be held at 20:00 on the 17th and will be broadcast via their official YouTube channel. They have already whetted appetites with a teaser trailer, building anticipation among users.

Game of Thrones: Kingsroad marks the first time this title is being introduced domestically following its global reveal. Built upon the foundation of the HBO hit series, it anchors its narrative in the chaos of Season 4—the show’s absolute zenith. You will step into the boots of the last heir to a northern house, dragged headfirst into a whirlpool of political strife. To keep things immersive, the developers have implemented full voice-overs and cinematic cutscenes for every major quest. You will even encounter iconic characters like Jon Snow and Jaime Lannister, and trek through legendary locations such as Castle Black, Winterfell, and King’s Landing.

The combat system leans away from mindless mass brawls, opting instead for a more refined, control-heavy action experience. You have three classes to choose from—Mercenary, Knight, and Assassin—with each wielding two distinct weapon types to provide a diverse combat experience. You will need to master dodging and parrying to dismantle your foes, especially when tackling bosses that demand you learn their specific attack patterns. For those who prefer company, there is plenty of dungeon-crawling and raid-style multiplayer content on offer.

While it respects the source material, the game also implements its own original elements. You will encounter a cast of original characters in this massive world, either as allies or as enemies you will have to face in intense combat. Exploration is further bolstered by environmental puzzles and a variety of encounter-based combat scenarios scattered across the map.

The upcoming showcase will feature producer Jang Hyun-il alongside influencer Ok-nyang-i and webtoon artist Lee Jong-beom, who will introduce the game's core content. Notably, the teaser released on the 10th explicitly promised no gacha mechanics. Further details, including the launch schedule, will be revealed during the showcase on the 17th.

Meanwhile, starting at 14:00 on the 17th, the day of the showcase, a closed beta test will commence on the global PC platform Steam for Game of Thrones: Kingsroad. You can sign up for the test via the Steam page until the 23rd.
