It includes warnings that those suffering from anxiety or depression should exercise caution due to its portrayal of unstable mental states. In a formal statement, Dan Salvato expressed his disappointment regarding the move. He emphasized the significance of the work, stating that Doki Doki Literature Club has contributed to "connecting with players worldwide and depicting mental health issues in a meaningful way, helping users feel understood and less alone." He added that they are exploring alternative ways to distribute the game on Android devices to restore access.

This incident highlights the ongoing friction between creative content and platform regulations. Last December, the game 'HORSES' faced controversy after being blocked from Steam and the Epic Games Store due to its bizarre content. Meanwhile, Doki Doki Literature Club remains available on Steam, PS5, iOS, and Nintendo Switch, with only the Android platform currently affected.
