In the increasingly competitive subculture game market, many titles are failing to survive. The latest casualty is Eversoul, which launched in January 2023 and is set to terminate its service this June.

Kakao Games announced the service termination schedule via the official Eversoul community on the 29th. Eversoul launched on January 5, 2023, and will close its doors on June 30 after approximately three years of service. Regarding this decision, Kakao Games and Nine Ark stated, "We have decided to terminate the Eversoul service based on our joint business assessment. Kakao Games remains committed to targeting both domestic and international users with a more diverse portfolio of titles moving forward."

Eversoul is a collection-based RPG featuring subculture themes. Based on a world that combines post-apocalyptic settings with medieval fantasy, it follows the journey of commanding various spirits to save the world. The game features a main story, dungeon combat modes, and a territory system where players can build bonds with spirits and enjoy housing content. Its 'Bond Story' feature, which allows players to experience multiple endings, was a key highlight.

With the service termination date announced, a refund plan has also been unveiled. For paid items purchased between March 26 and the maintenance on April 29 of this year, users who still possess the items can apply for a payment cancellation through a 1-on-1 inquiry within the game.

Furthermore, all payments and sales of paid items will cease after the maintenance on April 29. From then until June 1, the developers will provide 10,000 Everstones every week, totaling 50,000. This will allow players to select and summon any spirit released since 2025.

Meanwhile, as competition in the subculture game market intensifies, the culling of the herd is becoming more severe. Just this year, Clover Games, the developer of Lord of Heroes and Havenhells, filed for bankruptcy, and the long-running title Counterside has decided to cease regular updates.
