Clouded Leopard Entertainment is set to bring the Korean version of the fairy tale-smashing adventure, The Princess, the Grim Reaper, and the Monster in the Library, developed by Nippon Ichi Software, to Nintendo Switch 2, Nintendo Switch, and PS5 on July 2nd. A 'Digital Deluxe Edition', packed with a digital art book and soundtrack, will also hit the shelves on the same day.

As the latest entry in this picture-book series—following the footsteps of The Liar Princess and the Blind Prince and The Cruel King and the Great Hero—this title explores the bond between humans and the otherworldly. With character designs by Sayaka Oda and a script by Gento Jobana, the story follows a girl named Mono, who ventures into the 'Library'—a treatment facility—to save her sister from a terrifying plague known as the 'Grim Reaper Sickness'. Along her journey, she meets Merchendia, a goat-like creature with hidden motives, and encounters other girls transformed by the same affliction, weaving a complex tale of salvation.

The game retains the series' signature analog illustration style, which feels like stepping into a living storybook. However, this time, the developers have introduced a distinct, eerie aesthetic by rendering the fields in monochrome, creating a haunting yet beautiful atmosphere. You aren't just an observer; you'll actively intervene in this world, 'destroying' or 'deforming' the environment to forge your own path.

The Digital Deluxe Edition is for those who enjoy a bit of extra flavour, including the base game, a digital art book, and a soundtrack. The art book is filled with character bios and sketches, complete with commentary from the creative leads. For your ears, there are 27 tracks in total: 20 background pieces by Taishi Matsumoto of Z-Angle—a series veteran—and seven vocal tracks by Akiko Shikata.

Every world Mono visits is born from the depths of a girl's psyche, meaning each chapter brings a fresh visual style and new threats. You’ll be tasked with saving girls who have transformed into 'Grim Reaper Princesses'. One such figure is the 'Clown Painter Girl', who has become the 'Doodle Princess'. Her trauma manifests in the 'Unfinished Canvas', a world vibrant with strange paintings and spilled paint. Then there is the 'Girl from the Goat Farm' from Mer’s memories; their deep connection took a sour turn, and now, Mer harbors a grudge that feels very personal.
