Look, let's be honest, the GSL (Global Starcraft 2 League) still knows how to put on a show. In the Season 2 finals hosted by SOOP, Kim Jun-ho managed to outplay Kim Do-wook to take the crown. The battle took place at the FreecUP Studio in Daechi-dong, Seoul, where Kim Jun-ho secured the trophy with a 4-2 scoreline.

The GSL, played on the Legacy of the Void expansion, has been a cornerstone of the scene for 17 years since its inception in 2010. It is quite a feat, isn't it? It has become a long-standing league built by the players and fans, bolstered by community crowdfunding. For this season, Intel stepped up as the main sponsor, with Onsyde also lending their support.

Before the main event, the semi-finals were nothing short of intense. Kim Jun-ho scraped past Lee Byung-ryul with a 3-2 victory to punch his ticket to the finals. On the other side of the bracket, Kim Do-wook fought tooth and nail against Cho Seong-ju, eventually clinching a 3-2 win to join the final stage. The atmosphere was electric, with both players testing the waters early on.

In the opening set, Kim Do-wook drew first blood, utilising Hellions and Medivacs to harass before winning a massive engagement. Kim Jun-ho, however, struck back in the second set with a proxy Gateway build, expertly neutralising the counter-attack to level the playing field. The third set saw Kim Jun-ho fend off a proxy Barracks and Marauder rush, but Kim Do-wook wasn't backing down, responding with a 5-Barracks cheese rush in the fourth set to make it 2-2.

From there, it was all Kim Jun-ho. He seized the momentum with a blink Stalker build that simply proved too much to handle. In the fifth set, he used blink Stalkers to wreak havoc on Kim Do-wook's economy, finishing him off with Zealot pressure. He kept that energy for the final set, using three Adepts to pick off a swarm of workers before a decisive Stalker strike forced the surrender, sealing the championship.
