Hotta Studio, a subsidiary of Perfect World, has rolled out a massive 1.2 update for their supernatural urban open-world RPG, Neverness to Everness. This latest patch introduces a brand-new character, Shinku, alongside the permanent board game mode '999 Days Night Talk' and a stash of 19 fresh costumes to keep things looking sharp.

The spotlight is currently on the S-rank character Shinku, arriving alongside the limited-time board event 'Dawn'. Players can snag exclusive gliders, liveries, and a snazzy new costume for Shinku. Furthermore, a fantasy-themed mount called Draco has been added, which pairs quite nicely with the Dragon Hunter costume. Shinku, an operative from the Anomaly Management Bureau's Containment Team 2, switches between two distinct combat and mobility modes; once in the 'Crimson Flame Release' state, Shinku pivots to a new form to unleash heavy light-elemental ability damage.

The real meat of this update is the new permanent feature, '999 Days Night Talk'. It is a clever mix of narrative and gameplay where players join Mint, Illoy, and Shinku on a journey through Warren Continent, a realm conjured up by a board game. As players explore various regions and hunt down monsters, they will eventually face off against the final boss, the Red Dragon. A neat touch here is that certain equipment changes are reflected in real-time on the character model, and the costumes in this series even support custom dye features.

Later in the version, the 'Lifeline' limited board event will usher in the S-rank character Illoy. The update schedule is packed with further arrivals, including the 'Bang Bang Bang' auction, a high-stakes 'Hide and Seek' event, and the new 'Fishing Operation' mini-game. While Neverness to Everness was previously available on PS5, iOS, and Android, this update marks its official expansion onto Steam, the Epic Games Store, and the Samsung Galaxy Store.
