Global game developer MBC Game Studio has officially lifted the curtain on its debut title, 1001 Threads of Mizan, during Opening Night Live at Gamescom 2026.

Set in a sprawling fantasy world heavily inspired by One Thousand and One Nights and Arabian folklore, this action-adventure title puts exploration, colossal boss battles, and co-op play at the forefront. It is scheduled to launch on PS5, Xbox Series X/S, Nintendo Switch 2, and PC.

MBC Game Studio is steered by CEO Daniel Engelhardt and COO Trevor Williams. The development team is packed with veterans who cut their teeth on gameplay, world-building, and creative development at heavyweight global studios like BioWare, Hi-Rez, Ubisoft Montreal, and Bungie. Daniel Engelhardt added that by blending swift ground-and-air traversal, battles against massive Jinn, and immersive exploration, the team has captured the timeless beauty and spirit of universally beloved tales, crafting an experience where you can embark on heroic adventures alongside mates.

The tale kicks off when the legendary storyteller Shahrazad summons three heroes: Yusra, Malik, and Sufian. This trio sets off on a perilous quest to reclaim the forgotten power of Mizan and stop a vengeance-driven ancient Jinn from wiping out humanity. Supporting up to three players in co-op, the game features a seamless drop-in, drop-out system, allowing you to team up on flying carpets to soar through the skies and take down giant Jinn together. Traversal and gameplay mechanics centered around these flying carpets form the beating heart of 1001 Threads of Mizan.

Lars Bonde, Creative Director at MBC Game Studio, noted that development originally sparked from a rather cheeky question: what if you could experience the sheer scale of a single-player blockbuster adventure with your mates? Lars Bonde explained that the team drew inspiration from a generation raised on communication and shared experiences, channeling that connectivity right into fast-paced, action-focused gameplay. Through this, the developer aims to let players discover a deeply rich world where fantasy fuses with historical and cultural Arabian folklore alongside friends.

MBC Game Studio rolled out a pre-alpha demo of 1001 Threads of Mizan during Gamescom 2026, letting attendees get hands-on with co-op gameplay, aerial combat utilizing flying carpets, and a showdown against the formidable boss 'Nazjush'.
