Global publisher GRYPHLINE has announced that the 3D real-time strategy RPG Arknights: Endfield will officially launch on Steam on October 15, introducing the new version 'Danchongdao'. The upcoming update brings a fresh main storyline set within a painting created by 'D', alongside two new operators, combat content, and a countryside inn management system.

The Danchongdao version kicks off when the Behemoth agent 'D' invites an injured administrator to a personal residence known as the 'Fate Village Tavern'. The dwelling exists inside a hand-drawn landscape painting, and bizarre phenomena erupting in the surrounding mountains pull the administrator and 'D' into a new main story tracing connections back a decade. While exploring the painted world, the developer introduces a unique mechanic allowing players to use 'D's brush to bridge broken spaces for travel.

The new playable operator 'D' deploys skills that extract 'Ink Souls' from enemies to deal damage and apply effects. Even if targets slip out of range, the Ink Souls inflict continuous damage, while 'D' also possesses abilities to disrupt enemy charge attacks and empower cold- and heat-attribute allies. Meanwhile, the administrator's long-time acquaintance and new operator 'Mingha' combines sword and spear techniques with mounted charges utilizing the warhorse 'Noye'. Upon activating the ultimate, 'Mingha' charges on 'Noye' before leaping into the air to deliver a devastating finisher. Players can uncover 'Mingha's past through story events, and both 'D' and 'Mingha' will become available through sequential recruitment events during the update period.

Conttingency Contract also returns as 'Operation Ash Gray'. Players can choose various crisis indicators featuring potent advantages and tactical constraints to tackle combat in fresh ways. Certain crisis indicators will massively boost combo skill damage while imposing usage limits. Furthermore, selecting specific crisis indicators for the first time triggers additional attack patterns for enemies, while challenge settings are improved based on user feedback. Beyond combat and exploration, the 'Bonds Forged in Flame' content lets players cultivate crops, raise animals, and manage a rustic inn, complete with 'agricultural automation facilities' to assist with sowing and harvesting.

The Danchongdao update also introduces music reflecting an oriental fantasy universe. Soundtracks incorporating color bass, afrobeats, and UK garage feature contributions from composers such as Zai Jinyan, Ludvig Forssell, Chinese avant-garde electronic band 8:48, and musician Crywolf. Additional quality-of-life improvements include a gear setup saving feature, precise mouse targeting, and adjustable combo skill priorities, alongside a change allowing players to place facilities directly in the field using materials stored in warehouses.

The Steam version officially launches on October 15 with cross-platform support, allowing existing users to continue adventures spanning across Talos-II.

Meanwhile, to celebrate its first anniversary, Arknights: Endfield will host the '1st Anniversary Fes' for two days from January 9 to January 10, 2027, at Exhibition Hall 2 of KINTEX in Ilsan. Applications for fan-creation booths open until November 15, with work submissions closing on November 29. In addition, the 'Arknights: Endfield X Naver Webtoon Fan Creation Contest' will run from October 13 to November 8.
