A game that blatantly mimics Nintendo's iconic title 'Animal Crossing' has appeared on the PlayStation Store.

Recently, a game titled 'Anime Village Online' was registered on the PlayStation Store. The developer is an Indonesian creator named Wisnu Sudirman, and the page features character designs that bear a striking resemblance to Animal Crossing villagers, along with a release date set for 2027.

A look at the screenshots posted on the store page reveals a shameless imitation, from the camera angles and animal villagers to the life-simulation content including fishing. Upon discovering this, users have reacted with comments such as, "They wouldn't have a leg to stand on if they got sued, right?", "I can't believe a game like this actually passed the submission process," and "Are they trying to pick a fight with Nintendo?"

This is not the first time a fake game unauthorizedly using popular IP has appeared. In September, a fake game imitating the popular Steam gambling roguelike 'Cloverpit' surfaced, and last February, various mobile games copying 'Palworld' were released on Google Play and the Apple App Store. Furthermore, in January 2023, a company called 'aw studio' even impersonated Battlestate Games to open a fake 'Escape From Tarkov' Steam page.
