NEXON has rolled out a seasonal 'Cold Snap' update for ARC Raiders, the latest extraction shooter crafted by its subsidiary, Embark Studios. Running until January 13, this update introduces a chilling winter map variant alongside a slew of year-end festivities and rewards.

First up, we have the 'Cold Snap' condition, which transforms the environment into a frozen, blizzard-ridden landscape. Rotating alongside existing modifiers like Night Raids or Electromagnetic Storms, players can choose whether to brave these conditions. Staying exposed for too long triggers a 'Frostbite' effect, dealing persistent damage to both your skin and gear.

The snowy expanse brings new harvestable resources, such as Candleberry bushes, plus light-themed items like candles and bulbs. These are essential for the 'Flickering Flame' project, where you craft items like tea, perfume, and soap to gift. By completing this five-stage project, you can decorate your banquet table while earning cosmetic items, Raider Tokens, and 'Merit'—the currency you'll need for event progression.

From now until January 13, any XP earned—whether through the Flickering Flame project or standard gameplay—is automatically converted into Merit. You can use this to climb 25 tiers of rewards, including new gear, cosmetics, and more Raider Tokens.

Then, from December 17 to 22, the studio is introducing the 'Expedition Project,' an optional reset system. It’s a chance to pack your bags and leave the Rust Belt behind by gathering resources to construct a caravan.

If you opt for this fresh start, your character level, skill trees, and crafting progress get wiped. However, your accumulated assets will grant you permanent rewards like bonus skill points, extra stash space, the Rags Raider outfit, and a cute Chicken Scavenger baseball cap. You'll also receive temporary buffs, such as increased XP gains and reduced repair costs.

On December 26, every player will receive the Goli Raider Deck, a permanent, battle-pass-style content drop. It spans five pages of rewards, featuring a hockey-themed Raider outfit and a hockey stick cosmetic.
