Ubisoft's tactical shooter, Rainbow Six Siege, is currently suffering from a relentless string of hacking attacks.

The trouble began on December 27, when a server-level exploit allowed for the unauthorized duplication of in-game currency. Just a week later, players reported a new form of hacking that forcefully suspended their accounts.

The attacks intensified around January 4. Hackers accessed the game's disciplinary system and indiscriminately issued '67-day suspensions' to users. While the stated reason was 'harassment violations,' these were unrelated to the players' actual behavior. Streamers were hit mid-broadcast, and even users who were not logged in at the time were affected.

Cases of hateful messages or unrelated jokes appearing in the game lobby were also discovered. The Rainbow Six Siege development team stated, "We have received reports of unofficial messages, so the esports banner has been temporarily disabled."

Following these incidents, Ubisoft took the servers offline for maintenance and reopened them on the 6th. However, the 'Marketplace' remains inaccessible, and some users are experiencing gameplay issues due to 'asynchronous errors' and other server problems.

Ubisoft stated via its official X account, "If you received a ban notification on January 4 (local time), please ignore it as it is not an official alert, and no actual ban has been applied." They added that the team is working to resolve the synchronization errors and server issues.
