Capcom has just dropped a teaser trailer for Alex, the latest brawler joining the ranks of Street Fighter 6. As part of the previously teased 'Year 3' lineup—following Sagat and C. Viper—Alex is slated to make his grand entrance in the first half of the spring of 2026.

The footage reveals a noticeably wilder, more gargantuan Alex than we remember. In the 'World Tour' mode preview, he is seen tossing opponents around with his signature heavy-hitting pro-wrestling style, marking his long-awaited return to the series since his appearance in Street Fighter 5.

Alex first made his mark in 'Street Fighter 3: New Generation' as the face of a new era. Interestingly, the game was originally intended to be a standalone project, entirely detached from the Street Fighter universe. Once it was folded into the main series, however, the inclusion of veterans like Ryu and Ken left Alex—a character designed with a notoriously high-skill 'grappler' kit—struggling to find his footing, earning him the rather unfortunate reputation as a protagonist who missed the mark.

Yet, time has been kind to his legacy. He has since been re-evaluated as a solid, hulking powerhouse. Despite being absent in Street Fighter 4, he secured a spot as DLC in the fifth entry, and his confirmed return in 6 feels like a proper redemption arc for his past struggles.

The Year 3 roster for Street Fighter 6 is now complete with Alex, Sagat, C. Viper, and Ingrid. All eyes are currently on Ingrid, as she is set to be fully reimagined with proper 3D graphics, rather than just recycling old data.
