In that light, NCSoft’s recent strategic investment into Dynamis One, a studio specializing in subculture games, seems like a perfectly logical business maneuver. Yet, for us gamers watching this marriage, the reaction has been nothing short of icy.

The friction stems from the ongoing legal skirmish between Dynamis One and Nexon Games. Dynamis One is currently caught in the crosshairs of an investigation over allegations of unreleased project leaks. This, quite frankly, represents a massive reputational gamble for any investor. Of course, the risk isn't one-sided. NCSoft, whose credibility regarding launching new titles has been consistently undermined by sharp criticism over their aggressive monetization, is hardly a safe pair of hands. Taking on the publishing duties for a studio that has yet to ship a single title could prove a significant liability for Dynamis One as well.
