Stormcloak Games and Indie.io have announced that their indie survival base-building simulation, 'Adaptory', has officially launched in Steam Early Access.

The game begins with a crashed ship and a crew of four, each boasting unique personality traits and specialized skills. With a system that simulates the chemical and physical properties of over 50 different materials, you'll find yourself constantly hunting for creative solutions in a world overflowing with resource constraints and challenges. It is up to you to scout the planet for new supplies and devise a contingency plan to prepare for potential failures.

The game throws a constant barrage of random events at your base and crew. You might deal with meteor strikes tearing your facility apart or a sudden eclipse cutting off your power and oxygen supply. Furthermore, the randomly generated personalities of your crew can trigger internal friction, impacting their mental health, which in turn lowers their work efficiency, movement speed, and overall resilience. Neglect their social needs, and you might find your perfectly optimized base crumbling due to a series of cascading failures.

Despite the complexity, Adaptory keeps things grounded with 'Charlie', an AI survivor who guides you through the tutorial. It’s a smart way to let you pace your own construction and exploration, turning every mistake into a lesson on core mechanics and a step toward building a sustainable settlement. The game ditches the typical 'scary alien' trope to focus on the raw struggle of surviving a desolate planet, rewarding those who possess resilience and long-term vision.

As an Early Access title, Adaptory is set to evolve through close collaboration with its community. Stormcloak Games aims to reach version 1.0 by actively incorporating player feedback. Future updates promise an expanded research tree, advanced material refining, sophisticated climate control systems, and deeper simulation layers.
