Dead by Daylight has snatched the number one spot on the Steam global top sellers list immediately following the launch of its new DLC, 'Stranger Things Chapter 2'. The expansion, which generated significant buzz upon its initial reveal, climbed to the top of the charts alongside the base game, currently boasting a 'Mostly Positive' user rating.

The new killer introduced in this DLC is none other than 'Vecna', the primary antagonist from the show's fourth season. Dubbed 'The Lich', Vecna can unleash ranged attacks using telekinesis, traverse the 'Upside Down' for map mobility, and utilise perks to regress generator progress. Joining the survivor roster are series staples 'Eleven' and 'Dustin Henderson'. These characters arrive with unique abilities; for instance, they can reduce noise while repairing generators together, expand skill check zones, or utilise tokens to convert med-kits and reveal the killer's location.

This update marks the second DLC collaboration, following the previous addition of the Demogorgon. With Season 5, which concludes the Stranger Things saga, hitting number one in 92 countries, the timing of this DLC announcement—syncing perfectly with the show's latest release—has clearly paid off, driving a massive surge in the game's rankings post-launch.

Initial Steam user impressions for the new DLC sit at 'Mostly Positive' (342 reviews, 79% positive). While players are thrilled to see another collaboration with Stranger Things, some are grumbling about Vecna’s power level, suggesting it might be tipping the game's balance. On top of that, there is some frustration brewing over an unrequested change to the scream sound effect for the existing survivor, Steve Harrington.

Elsewhere, Helldivers 2 climbed to 10th place after unveiling a new Warbond featuring a missile launcher, breaching hammer, and laser shotgun. Meanwhile, Code Vein 2, which has been catching flak for persistent optimisation issues, has slipped down to 9th.

In the peak Concurrent Players top 20, Terraria secured 7th place following its 1.4.5 update. Before the patch, the average player count hovered around the 30,000 mark, but the new content has sent that figure soaring to 164,067. While the highly anticipated new title Highgard has fallen out of the top 20, Dead by Daylight saw a boost of 30,000 players compared to the previous day, hitting 97,368 concurrent users thanks to the DLC hype.
