The Korea Arcade Game Industry Association (hereinafter 'the Association') has announced that it will launch a 'Campaign for Adherence to Operating Hours and Youth Access Times' starting this February, aiming to foster a healthy business culture and help operators stay compliant with regulations.

This campaign was planned to improve operators' understanding of relevant laws and encourage a culture of voluntary compliance, as the number of youth-oriented gaming venues, such as claw machine parlours, has been increasing nationwide. The initiative is being carried out in close cooperation with the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, the Busan Metropolitan Police Agency, and the Game Rating and Administration Committee.

As part of the campaign, the Association has produced and distributed 4,000 copies of a compliance leaflet to major arcade venues nationwide. These leaflets are being distributed through the Association's member network alongside new game machine deliveries to ensure widespread awareness. The leaflet outlines essential regulations: operating hours are from 9 AM to 12 AM (midnight), and youth access is permitted from 9 AM to 10 PM. It also provides a self-check list covering requirements such as posting mandatory notices, maintaining CCTV monitoring, and strictly verifying IDs after 10 PM.

The Association is focusing on pre-emptive guidance and education to protect businesses from administrative sanctions (such as business suspension or registration revocation) and legal penalties (up to one year in prison or fines of up to 10 million won). This campaign is an ongoing effort in collaboration with relevant authorities, and the Association plans to continue promoting these regulations at public events, including the 2026 PlayX4.

Association President Yoon Dae-joo stated, "A healthy gaming culture begins with the commitment of our operators," adding, "I urge all arcade owners to actively comply with operating and youth access hours so that our venues can remain trusted spaces within the local community." The Association intends to continue working with the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, the Busan Metropolitan Police Agency, the Game Rating and Administration Committee, and local governments to foster a safe and enjoyable arcade environment for young people.
