Steam is currently testing a new feature that allows users to share their PC specifications in reviews, making it easier to confirm whether performance issues are due to optimization or hardware limitations.

On the 12th, Steam updated its user review system in the Steam Client Beta, allowing reviewers to include their hardware specifications. This feature is designed to clearly distinguish between a game's technical optimization issues and problems caused by an individual's hardware limitations.

This feature is optional, and users can choose whether to disclose their specs. When writing a review, users can check a box to attach their PC specifications, which Steam will then automatically detect. This allows other users to compare the reviewer's hardware with their own environment.

Along with hardware disclosure, an option to provide anonymized frame rate data has been added. When enabled, gameplay frame data is collected without being linked to the user's Steam account. Valve plans to use this information, categorized by hardware type, to identify game compatibility and improve services. Currently, testing for this feature is focused on devices running SteamOS.

Meanwhile, this beta update includes various bug fixes and quality-of-life improvements. An issue where download speed limits persisted after streaming sessions ended has been resolved, and the Steam Family settings layout and navigation have been improved for both desktop and mobile devices. Additionally, a bug that caused some Proton games to be displayed as an invalid platform for users with large libraries in offline mode on Linux has been fixed.
