The long-awaited 10th generation of Pokémon has finally been unveiled. The new title, Pokémon Wind & Wave, features vast oceans and archipelagos, and the starter Pokémon have been revealed alongside the game's theme.

The Pokémon Company announced several new updates during the 'Pokémon Presents' event on February 27, celebrating the 30th anniversary of the franchise. The biggest highlight was the first reveal of the 10th generation title, 'Pokémon Wind & Wave'. The game is set in a new region featuring beautiful islands and expansive seas. The debut trailer confirms that the underwater world is fully accessible, a feature first implemented in the 2002 release, Pokémon Ruby and Sapphire.

Beyond the seas where Pokémon swim, the game features diverse environments such as lush jungles and lava-filled volcanic zones. It is also worth noting that Pokémon appear directly in the field rather than through random encounters. Pokémon Wind & Wave is set to be a Nintendo Switch 2 exclusive, and the footage showcases significantly improved graphics.

The 10th generation starter Pokémon have also been revealed. 'Choroppi', the Grass-type Chick Pokémon, can photosynthesize using the leaves on its eyebrows; it is active but somewhat clumsy. 'Pomungi', the Fire-type Puppy Pokémon, has a heating organ in its lungs that makes its throat glow faintly, and it is innocent and sociable. 'Michori', the Water-type Gecko Pokémon, fires elastic water orbs from its tail and is highly intelligent, acting in a calculated and cunning manner. These new starters have already captured the attention of fans with their adorable designs.

Two special variants of Pikachu were also introduced: 'Wind-chu', wearing sunglasses, and 'Wave-chu', wearing a flower-adorned hat and floral swimsuit. The 'Wind' and 'Wave' themes are directly linked to the new title, suggesting they may play a significant role. Additionally, the protagonists in the game will wear different outfits depending on whether you play Wind or Wave.

Pokémon Wind & Wave is scheduled for release on the Nintendo Switch 2 in 2027.
