During the Xbox Partner Preview showcase on the 27th, a new turn-based strategy game reminiscent of XCOM was unveiled.

'Vaunted' is a new sci-fi title featuring three alien criminals as protagonists. The game is set 1,000 years after the collapse of the Galactic Empire. It blends third-person shooting action with turn-based combat, featuring a 3D animated art style.

'Vaunted' begins with the protagonists being interrogated by their captors. Players uncover the truth through the testimonies of the three narrators. Essentially, the game is played by reconstructing a failed mission from the perspective of one of the characters. The ending changes based on lies, excuses, and whose perspective is used for the testimony.

The three protagonists each possess unique abilities. Dice is a swindler and thief who finds loot and disrupts flanks. Zendrill is a battle-hardened mercenary. Kivas is a warlock who uses mechanical devices to enhance their body and cast magic. Cornered, the trio will say anything to survive, but they cooperate to stay alive.

Combat involves allies and enemies attacking without a fixed turn order. It is turn-based at its core, with real-time elements for dodging and taking cover. Players can use terrain to hide or launch ambushes, and chain attacks using grenades or magic. Players defeat enemies by utilizing running, jumping, cover, and each character's unique abilities.

Each hero's choices accumulate as reputation, influencing the creation of new opportunities. As the story progresses, the credibility of the characters' stories increases, which can be spent to strengthen the three heroes. Characters grow individually based on mission results, and players can organize their squad with job-specific equipment.

Vaunted is scheduled for release on PC later this year and will officially support Korean.
