Behaviour Interactive, the studio behind Dead by Daylight, is turning their attention to the adrenaline-fuelled world of the Serious Sam franchise. This new entry is a co-op roguelite FPS where up to five players must team up to take on the minions of the dreaded Mental.

Devolver Digital and Behaviour Interactive revealed their new title, Serious Sam: Shatterverse, during the Xbox Partner Preview on the 27th. Marking the 25th anniversary of the series, this latest iteration blends the classic run-and-gun carnage with modern roguelite sensibilities.

You and your squad—ranging from solo play up to five-player teams—will traverse a reality in flux. Thanks to the schemes of the series' long-standing antagonist, Mental, the walls of the universe have collapsed, leaving Sams summoned from various dimensions to patch up the Shatterverse. Your primary task involves hunting down and dismantling Mental's five most powerful lieutenants.

The series' signature brand of chaotic, overwhelming gunplay remains front and centre. You can expect to wield iconic Serious Sam weaponry while managing a suite of items. Naturally, the roguelite framework ensures that every run features shifting stages and permanent upgrade paths to keep you coming back for more.

Behaviour Interactive stated that their goal was to "honour the legacy of Serious Sam while delivering something fresh and modern in an unprecedented way." Croteam, the original creators of the series, added, "The birth of Shatterverse is a momentous occasion for us. We are thrilled to see another talented team build something bold, fresh, and distinct within a universe we hold so dear. We look forward to seeing both long-time fans and newcomers experience this new interpretation."

Serious Sam: Shatterverse is set to launch this year on PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X/S, with full Korean subtitle support.
